RESEARCH SCOPE

The Laboratory is one of the national standard laboratories of river, coastal engineering, hydraulic, renewable energy, disaster reduction and climate change.

FEATURED SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS

- River training, flood release solutions to mitigate erosion of Hong-Thaibinh river bed, and several rivers in central Vietnam;

- Solutions to sedimentation prevention at main estuaries in north, central, and south of Vietnam in order to release flood, improve navigation system and establish anchor areas at estuaries: Cua Day, Ninh Co, Thuan An-Tu Hien, Lai Giang, My A, Dinh An, Tam Giang-Cau Hai

- Study and recommend coastal erosion prevention and protection solutions in north, central, and south of Vietnam as Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, QuangBinh, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, KhanhHoa, Go Cong, Tien Giang.

- Physical models for optimal structural solutions, river bank erosion prevention and protection of downstream area of hydraulic structures and hydropower works at: Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Cua Dat, Ta Trach, Nuoc Trong, Ngan Truoi, Ban Mong,…

- Implementing border demarcation between Vietnam and China, protect erosion of 5 islands in Truong Sa archipelago.

- Exploiting and developing maritime natural resources and transportation for big sea ports as DinhAn, Hai Phong, stabilizing oil rig and gas exploitation. Sea ports planning at Tien Sa, Vung Ang, Dung Quat.

- Study the impact of reservoirs upstream to flooding in the downstream of Ma River basin, Hoang Mai, Huong, Vu Gia-Thu Bon, Tam Ky ....and hydrology, hydraulics regime, riverbed morphology change in confluence area, Hong  -Thai Binh distributary, Vu Gia-Thu Bon distributary.

POTENTIAL AND DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATION

With high-tech and experienced human resources, modern and synchronized equipment, in the coming time, the Lab will focus on exploitation, use and bring in full advantage of these equipment, also the lab will expand relation to diverse organizations, national and international experts to carry on the tasks of MARD, especially the task related to climate change, energy saving, pollution and natural sea resources exploitation.
